Cosmetic Dental Services

Healthy teeth provide a direct route to a healthier, happier smile, but sometimes patients need a little more intervention to get the bright and beautiful smile that they desire. Cosmetic dentistry offers an affordable and safe way to achieve that smile, and bring you closer to the confidence that you have always wanted.

At Healthy Smiles Family Dental, we use top-of-the-line technology and cutting-edge dental techniques to give you the healthier teeth and beautiful smile that you deserve. The days of silver fillings and gold teeth are long behind us - we can restore chipped, cracked, broken, discolored, and missing teeth with stronger yet more subtle materials, so that the only evidence of your dental work will be a natural and radiant smile.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening, or bleaching, is the top cosmetic dental intervention that patients request. It is one of the most cost effective ways to improve your smile, and you can begin to notice results within a few days of starting the process.

There is more than one way to have your teeth whitened, but the most common method involves a home bleaching system that is simple, not too time-consuming, and much more effective than over-the-counter alternatives. With a whiter smile, you can feel more confident in your work and personal relationships, and find a self-esteem boost every time you look in the mirror.

Cosmetic Bonding

Chips, cracks, and dents in your teeth can greatly diminish the beauty of your smile. Cosmetic bonding is one of the most effective ways to restore these imperfections, and modern dentistry has made bonding easier and more natural in appearance than ever.

Cosmetic bonding involves fillings chips in your teeth with a tooth-colored composite resin. This resin is specifically colored to match your teeth, so this process should be done after you have had your teeth whitened. The bonding will adhere to the tooth, and then is hardened with an ultraviolet light to keep it in place.

Bonding is not a permanent solution; this form of restoration, while more affordable than other cosmetic dental methods, may need to be replaced a few times throughout your life due to normal wear and discoloration. However, bonding can dramatically improve the shape of your teeth, and is virtually unnoticeable when you smile.

Dental Crowns

In many cases, cosmetic dentistry is as much about improving the health of your teeth as it is about improving your smile. Dental crowns, or caps, are used to restore teeth that are badly decayed or fractured, resulting in a more attractive smile and healthier teeth.

The first step in the process of capping your teeth involves removing the part of the tooth that is damaged or decayed. Then an impression, or mold, of your tooth will be made, and Healthy Smiles will create a custom crown to fit the remaining part of your tooth. Porcelain is the medium of choice for crowns, but you may choose to have a gold crown instead.

Dental crowns:

•  Restore the shape of your tooth
•  Keep decay from spreading to the roots of your tooth
•  Strengthen the original tooth
•  Help keep the surrounding teeth healthier, by preventing the spread of decay and offering more structural support
•  Are a stronger and more permanent option than bonding

Dental Bridges

Missing teeth can be some of the most painfully obvious symptoms of a smile that you just aren't happy about. A dental bridge can replace the tooth or teeth that are missing, and provide support to the surrounding teeth to keep them from shifting and becoming crooked. Bridges are also used in place of crowns where tooth decay has progressed to the point that the entire tooth should be removed.

Bridges are a more permanent solution than dentures, and need no special care beyond the regular brushing and flossing that your natural teeth require. A false tooth can be cemented in between two capped teeth, or it can be fixed directly onto your gum line via a dental implant that is attached to your jaw to serve as a tooth root.

Porcelain Veneers

For those chips, cracks, and fractures that are just too big for a composite filling, or for patients who prefer a more permanent fix, porcelain veneers can be the ideal solution. Like crowns and bridges, veneers are custom made to fit your tooth and are bonded directly to the tooth's surface. Unlike composite, however, porcelain is not prone to discoloration over time, and can better withstand the pressures of chewing.
